On a weekly basis, the CAE compiles news of interest to the organization and its members, and makes it publicly available on our website. The CAE works to highlight emerging issues in which engineering has a role as well as promote recognition of engineering excellence and innovation.

2017 Steacie Prize
University of Toronto Professor Milica Radisic, FCAE, has been named the 2017 recipient of the Steacie Prize for her ground-breaking work in tissue engineering. Her work has resulted in new methods for growing human tissue in the lab. For more information, click here.

Grenfell Tower Fire Report
Thank you to the Fellows of CAE and other Canadian Federal, Provincial and Municipal code experts who contributed to this important UK Royal Academy of Engineering-led review of building regulations and fire safety. For more information, click here.
Smart Grid Funding
Congratulations to Professor Liuchen Chang, FCAE, and his colleagues at the University of New Brunswick on this important initiative to build on existing smart grid expertise infrastructure and refine technology to deliver solutions for renewable energy. The initiative has received $4.3 million investment from the Government of Canada. For more information, click here.
Fellow Doubly Honoured
Congratulations to Richard Boudreault, FCAE, for being awarded the <<distinction de Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes academiques>> by the government of France.
He has also been awarded the 2018 George E. Pake Prize from the American Physical Society for his outstanding research accomplishments in electronics, photonics, and advanced materials during his distinguished career for over 40 years. The George E. Pake Prize recognizes the outstanding work of physicists combining original research with leadership in the management of research and development in industry.

2018 Fellowship Renewal
As we enter the New Year, CAE is preparing invoices for your 2018 Fellowship dues. Emails will be sent before the end of this week containing your updated fee as well as instructions for how to access your invoice and pay your dues.
