Engineers Canada hosts dinner for recipients of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal

Engineers Canada awarded eleven professional engineers the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal at a special dinner on February 28, 2013, at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. An additional twenty-six medals have been awarded across the country for a total of thirty-seven medals.

Seven members of the Canadian Academy of Engineering are among the thirty-seven recipients of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal awarded by Engineers Canada and its constituent associations. The commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The medal serves to honour both Her Majesty for her service to Canada, and to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians. “Sixty thousand deserving Canadians have been recognized during this past year of celebration,” said Engineers Canada’s president, Catherine Karakatsanis, FEC, FCAE, P.Eng., “Our 37 recipients very much deserve to be part of this distinguished group, having contributed and dedicated service to their peers, to their community and to the country through their work in engineering.”

The following are the seven CAE Fellows awarded medals by Engineers Canada and its constituent associations: Michael A. Ball, Darrel J. Danyluk, Pierre Lassonde, Roger Nicolet, P. Kim Sturgess, Pieter Van Vliet, H. Neil Windor
