We regret to announce the passing of University of Toronto Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering Dean Emeritus Anastasios (Tas) Venetsanopoulos,
As well as being a renowned scholar in the areas of multimedia systems, digital signal and image processing, digital communications, biometrics and neural networks, he held senior academic position at UofT and Ryerson University, and served the profession as president of the Canadian Society of Electrical Engineering from 1983-1986. As well as his FCAE, he was a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the IEEE, and the EIC as well as a member of the New York Academy of Science.
