CAE News for the week of 10 September

On a weekly basis, the CAE compiles news of interest to the organization and its members, and makes it publicly available on our website. The CAE works to highlight emerging issues in which engineering has a role as well as promote recognition of engineering excellence and innovation.

Traffic type, not volume, biggest effect on air pollution

Professor Greg Evans, FCAE, and fellow researchers showed that the air pollution problem is exacerbated by the number of large, older trucks.

CCA Climate change risk panel meets

The Expert Panel on Prioritizing Climate Change Risks was in Ottawa on September 10th, 2018 for its first in-person panel meeting. The panel is chaired by L. John Leggat, FCAE, Former Assistant Deputy Minister, Science and Technology, Department of National Defence.

The CAETS Annual meeting took place this week in Montevideo. The Canadian Academy of Engineering is pleased to be contributing to the discussions on SDGs, communications in engineering and future directions for engineering education.
